Objective Objects

So in the rules pack for the doubles under the what to bring section, "Each Army will be required to bring five objective markers with them for the weekend. These should be themed to your Army, based on 40mm (Terminator sized) round bases and no bigger than a standard Terminator. These objectives will be used in the scenarios as described in the pack; there will also be an award for the best on the weekend!"

So this left me with a little bit of a puzzle, I have objective markers already but any additional paiting/ modelling challenges always interest me especially when I have to tie them in to two armues. Here's a look at my current objectives...

So I;m thinking some thing similar for the doubles objectives, but larger bases means more architeciteture and more ravens (I need to buy more Nagals) and a few guard casualties, but I'm not sure of what else, for my 5th one which I'd like to be really impressive.

Not alot of point but hopefully I'll come up with some ideas in Florida.

In The Mean Time

Right, ToS coverage continues on GMorts Blog (see side bar) and I will do a bit of a blow by blow of my own once I have the pictures from him but until then an update.

Currently I'm finishing off the Salamanders, who now have a home. Pics will be up when my camera wants to work, liking how they are and will be sad to see them go. I'm also working on 750pts of Imperial guard, my section of a doubles army. I'm really enjoying the project and guard are a nice break from marines. My only other current project is my dreadfleet. I've built it all now and had a few games, with one ship also nearly being painted. The detail is nice on the minis but so fiddly to paint.

Plans for the future are,

1) Finish sallies
2) Complete guard
3) Finish Dreadfleet
4) Strip "Soul Drinkers company"
5) Paint company Raven guard
6) Start Corax!

Sorry about the lack of pictures, my camera and I will be having words. Hopefully have some pics of Soul drinkers for memories up by the weekend and I will grab the pics of GMort by then.

I Need Help... With My Diary

So I know two Blog posts in a day is bad form but I need help.

As I've mentoned I'm writing a fancy army list for ToS and I'm nearly done I just need a few brave marine deeds to add.

What follows is some pics of the mostly finished article and what's in it.

Special Addition
Data File: long range transmission 0/223/Kastorel/6g
992.974.M41
Librarian Kailar to Deliverance
Subject: 7th company Additional Strength

Two members of the chapters Apothecarium have been attached to the company due to the inherent higher casualty rate on such a campaign.

They have been issued with a Lightning Claw, Bolt Pistol and Jumppack.

They have been assigned to squads Dayar and Raavis.
The Strike force will redevous with Shadow Captain Korvydae at the drop site. His request for assault reinforcements has not fallen on deaf ears.

I lament however the need to end the Faleen VII campaign with such a rash attack, which while effective led to such a loss of the chapters strength.

Special Addition
Data File: long range transmission 0/223/Kastorel/6g
992.974.M41
Librarian Kailar to Deliverance
Subject: Codicier Kailar

While my skills are well documented by the librarium I will commit them here to further the record of the campaign.
After the death of Shadow Captain Servais I have been promoted to lead 7th company on this campaign until the chapter masters can nominate a suitable replacement.
I am proficient with the psychic techniques of “Blood Lance” and “Might of Heroes”
Addendum:

Report that follows this will be sent by apothecary Sadona and will outline casualties sustained during the Faleen VII campaign.
The company is currently operating 50%.
This will adjust how we engage the green skins, suggesting a need for a guerrilla assault over a conventional deep striking attack.

Thanks in advance

A New Addition.

Ok Corax arrived so I figured I'd do a bit of a product review.

The model is pretty crisp and the metal of decent quality. However the lightning claws provided are awefully molded and I will be making replacemements, and the loin cloth pieces don't really seem to fit on the model.

I like the posing but many have commented to me on Corax's "gay ballerina" pose so clearly theres so issue, I also intend to green stuff the models hair out a little as its a bit pony tail esq at the minute.

Overall I give the model a 7/10.

Ok now for some appologies. Blog posting will resume now thanks to my internet connection being up, me being in funds to buy paints and models and the fact I'm no longer in France.

Tomorrow I'll post the first in a series of painting tutorials I've been working on.
Feed back on articles you've liked or found useful would be helpful too, and please pass on the commission site to people if you can. More will be gong on there soon as I have a couple of days off to work on it and cleaning up some models to add to it.

"They have a Primarch!"

I love the Primarchs. They are some of the best background writing for any games system ever, I defy anyone not to identify with at least one of them, for me it's a three way tie between Konrad Curze, Lorgar and Corax. (I used to the love the Lion but Luther is clearly cooler.)

So when about a year ago I was shown kabuki models range of "Knights of Legend" I was in awe. So with the recent release of "Corax" or "Gothic Knight" I bought one. Hopefully post a bit of a making and painting for him after he arrives from spain but I'm so excited.

Also a friend of my GMort has been writing profiles for a few of the sons of the emperor so I'm really looking forward to trying out the rules he's written for Corax.

I'd post a few pics but I can't work out how to pinch them, so please go and look and support the company if you like what you see.

Not a long post I know, some more stuf should be on the webstore tomorrow and more Sallies pics soon, onceI can find my damn camera

Too Small and a Lack of Motivation.

Get your mind out the gutter. While whisked away by my family today (ah family fun the nice way of saying sunburn, boredom and fights) I looked at making a few 500 pt lists using both the Space Marine codex (The codex I should use) and the Blood Angels codex (The codex I do use). I came to one conclusion 500 pts is not enough!

I did write up a few ideas though (all be it in very shaky car writing). Everything at the minute though hinges on what my partner is taking as Raven Guard using either codex are very close combat oriented, unless I go with a scout force.

An oldie but a goodie

Space Marine 500pts

Captain + Jump Pack + Relic Blade - 155

Man Scout Squad + Sniper rifles + Sgt Tellion -115

10 Man Assault Squad + Power Fist + Flamer  - 225

Total - 500

A bit of a mixed list hoping that Space Wolves can take a charge and the Ravens can counter charge, however the Blood Angels list would do that better.

Blood Angels 500pts

Librarian + Jump Pack + Epistolary - 175

10 Man Assault Squad + Power Fist + 2 x Meltagun - 235

Sanguinary Priest + Jump Pack + Lightning Claw - 85

Total - 500

The most blood angel pic ever!

Hope to get some feed back on the lists and get my partners up soon too.

The other point of this post is just a venting system for my lack of motivation to paint the last few days, I know I need to finish the Ravens and get the Sallies done to get them on the market.

I assume after a few beers, some after sun and a good nights sleep I'll be ready to get painting and hopefully
bring you all some lovely pics. Until then feedback's always good, as some people find it but others don't my email address is Citizenwilliams@gmail.com as apparently some people dislike leaving public comments, also I have added some minimal ads to the blog, ignore them if you want but if you like what you read please click on a couple even 2p per visitor will help me to fund commissions and the caffeine I need to paint.

Unrelated but it made me laugh.

Doubles Tournament

Due to my weekly deathwatch appointment on a Saturday (oh yes all Saturday) I haven't had chance to do much painting so no nice models to show you. However last night I did commit my self to a 1000 point doubles tournament with a friend of mine as part of a rivalry between our FLGS.

So this week I'll be giving some thought to what 500 points I want to take, probably of raven guard. Also hopefully a look at what my partner plans to take which will probably be Space Wolves.

First ideas up tomorrow. Any suggestions for cool themes would be appreciated.

Tour : Second Leg

Job interviews, drinking and life in general have caught up with a bit of late so I present to you another tour of my paint station to show how I'm budgetting my hobby time. Here goes.

Diorama of Kill Team Epsilon, coming along still needs a lot of work though

About 70% of the Salamanders 1750pts I'm putting together to sell. These will be my main focus this week and should have a few post dedicated to them.

A converted Death Jester, I gained a free one thanks to GW's finecast polisy and a commission job so i tinkered for a distraction. I like him, I call him Clive.

Brother Magron of Kill team Epsilon nearly done he needs a few hours of serious love though.

Salamanders banner for the army

So good it deserved a better shot, I didn't paint this!

Hopefully get the final Sallies list up soon and a few more done pics. If I get chance giving the Ravens a full day of work too.

Update and a Tour

Right I'm not dead, and will endeour to post more reular updates this week, but for now a short tour round my paint station so you can see how my hobby time has been spent.

Some scorpions I'm panting up as a commission.
Loads of work still needed.

My furioso and landspeeder being added to the Ravens as I'm looking at going to a narrative campaign weekend and I need to bump the list to 2.5K so there will be possible lists going up this week as I plan out that event. I need a 1K list a 1.5K list and a 2.5K list from the same 2.5K sounds fun.

Some WHFB models and Hector Rex, baiscally distractions for when I need them.

A Jar.

Well a jar of 5 CSM soaking in dettol to be cleaned up for ebay.

Kill Team Epsillon, I'm modelling the whole kill team as a games day diorama. The kill team will be on a wrecked version of their new Razorback, offing genestealers.
Thats your lots really guys, I am doind bits ans pieces but I may have spread myself a little thin. Will hopefully have some shiney full painted stuff ready soon, I will fnd my motivation.

Please keep checking the killteam blog, though we have a week off this weekend, and I'd appreciate any support for the webstore too for those with funds. Miss Kat von D will remain until my next article to deal with any communications.

The Future is Unwritten

Recently there has been alot of hating on GW and certain policies and price raises. Alot of it is valid however after looking at it recently and the moves of other war games companies I can see why decisions have been made. I'm going to leave all that alone though and discuss one problem I do have with GW, I want to know whats coming out!

A couple of chats with GW employees I've discovered that the recent workshop policy of only releasing images a week in advance of a release is to encourage more brick and mortar sales over web sales. They also don't tell staff anything, and I for one am seeing fewer and fewer "black boxes" around.

All this means I, and you good people need to rely on forum speculations (unless we all band together to buy a team of ninjas) to find out anything, and forums by and large SUCK!

I've just paused and made my self a drink, and in that time have reevaluated my problem, (I'm keeping the early part as it lets you see my thoughts), while work shops policy annoys me the anger I feel is directed at blurry fail images and peoples wish listing which dilutes the real leaks we all want to see just because some troll wants to seem important. (Hi pot, I'm Kettle, you're so black)

I'll calm down, Forum like **** ** **** ***** and ******* (yeah I'm not taking flak, work them out :P, you all know though) are full of so many people claiming to have insights who are either wish listing using the last (usually broken codex) as war gaming porn for new ideas, or are repeating information so and real facts get Chinese whispered into lies.

I'd like facts (preferably from GW) but failing that real leaks not your wish listing post you've hidden with a bit of fluff from a 2nd ed book that's no longer canon (that's right Tau... but their another rant for another time!!)

I've bored you enough, now to go flame them all.

now for sticking with my tedious rant you get to meet a lovely young lady known only as

Mosh
