Kill Team - A Review

With THQ's "Space Marine" still some way off, they have gifted us a little arcade game they call...

Having some Microsoft points lying about I decided to pick it up, mainly I'll be honest to unlock the power sword in "Space Marine". While this has nothing to do with my painting I hope you stick with my little review.

Graphics
For an XBL game the graphics are pretty good, more handheld style than Xbox but still fairly crisp and load times are 5 seconds. (literally, it counts down ;p) The animations are varied and interesting for such a basic control system and each level has clearly had some love applied by the art team.

Sounds
Waaaaaggghhhh!!! enough said.

oh ok, the music is your standard 40K fayre but the little shouts from the enemies and marines are similar to "Dawn of War"s and will have you shouting along. The objective narrator is a little annoying but he doesn't pipe up much.

Game Play
The controls are solid for so few buttons, the right stick as shoot and aim is a little odd but feels natural once you get used to it. The bonus powers are a little over powered for some classes as are the heavy weapons for the sternguard vetran (Plasma cannons do not fire like a heavy bolter!!).

Problems
Blood Ravens. THQ I know GW gave you a fun little chapter between you and C S Goto but they are dull!!! I wanted to play as a deathwatch marine and have my shoulder pad change (minimal effort on THQ's part but oh well). There are a few others to choose from alas no raven's but White Scars, Blood angels, Ultras, Sallieas and fists all there

Verdict.
For 800 MSP this game is a bargin, really fun and would be great as a pick up and play at a party. Can't wait to get online for some epic team action. If I had to score it:
Graphics: 6
Sound: 8
Gameplay: 8

so call it a 7/10. Hope to see some of you online soon!.

*For those with a PS3 (sucks to be you) "Kill team" is worth the couple of months wait.

Update and a Tour

Right I'm not dead, and will endeour to post more reular updates this week, but for now a short tour round my paint station so you can see how my hobby time has been spent.

Some scorpions I'm panting up as a commission.
Loads of work still needed.

My furioso and landspeeder being added to the Ravens as I'm looking at going to a narrative campaign weekend and I need to bump the list to 2.5K so there will be possible lists going up this week as I plan out that event. I need a 1K list a 1.5K list and a 2.5K list from the same 2.5K sounds fun.

Some WHFB models and Hector Rex, baiscally distractions for when I need them.

A Jar.

Well a jar of 5 CSM soaking in dettol to be cleaned up for ebay.

Kill Team Epsillon, I'm modelling the whole kill team as a games day diorama. The kill team will be on a wrecked version of their new Razorback, offing genestealers.
Thats your lots really guys, I am doind bits ans pieces but I may have spread myself a little thin. Will hopefully have some shiney full painted stuff ready soon, I will fnd my motivation.

Please keep checking the killteam blog, though we have a week off this weekend, and I'd appreciate any support for the webstore too for those with funds. Miss Kat von D will remain until my next article to deal with any communications.

Battle Brother Magron Davaal

So today (as I still vainly try to keep to an article a day this week) I thought I'd talk a little about my deathwatch character Magron, MAGRON!!! (a little in joke, when I chose the name from a random name chart I yelled it like the cookie monster, it just kind of stuck) After his humble orgins as an unskilled Dark Angel, he's now blossomed into a stealthy, gregarious Raven Guard.

I just thought I'd type up a little back ground and a few plans for his development. Fitst off in game terms I've used the 'create your own chapter' rules to make the rules for Raven guard. Magron (for those who know the game or care) has bonuses to stealth, shaow and silent move.

Recently he also gained a 'Stalker' pattern bolt gun, in the hope of one day the tyranical and leg stealing, arm destorying GM we all bow to the whims of allows him to have one.The whole kill teams progress can be viewed over at 'Kill Team Epsilon' (in the left side bar).

To finish the little of Magron's background I've written. (then a lady of course)

A veteran of Shadow Captain Shrike's 'hit and run' campaign agianst the Orks on Targus VIII. After seeing his squad wiped out and being away from his battle brother for so long and leading lighting raid in enemy terratory then Sgt Magron became a great leader drawing the attention of those in higher ranks.

Chapter Master Corrar him self reccommended Magron's secondment to the deathwatch who hoped the extreme experience would bring out the natural skill he saw.

I will write more once I've decided or told (:p) what Magron's past is.

Finally I know alot of this weeks posts haven't been great but the week has been an exerceise in how often and well I can realistically post quality pieces. After the weekend we'll be back to two or three times a week unless a muse decends.

Now as promised.
